Pleasant-View has been updated but not renovated.  The features and furnishing are typical of a 1950’s country home which it was when the inn closed its door to daily business.  The bedrooms are sparsely furnished and simply decorated.

We have just oppened rooms that we call the Red Boat Club for Fine Dining with Chef Job Burns offering prix fix dining and other catered events.

When Pleasant-View was a travelers’ hotel beginning in the 1800’s, men got get off the riverboat, took a room for the night, ate breakfast in the morning, rented a horse and cart from the livery stable and rode off into the countryside.  They returned a day or two later for supper and a bed before taking the paddle wheeler back to the city of Saint John.  In the early 20th century, the inn was expanded to house lumber mill workers and for the spring log drive down the Belleisle.  Today, Pleasant-View is a work in progress offering 10 bedrooms for guests who want to experience the beauty of rural New Brunswick in any season.

In the 1980’s, the inn was used as a summer home until it was purchased in 2000, winterized, insulated with new windows, furnace and plumbing.  It has been used as a year round residence and recently become available Travellers and work Crews.

The type of overnight accommodation is that of a hostel.   there is a kitchen to DIY. There are dining areas and verandas available for the preparation of food and the pleasure of dining.  A dishwasher and refrigerator as well as gas stove, barbecue and microwave are available.
